Easter Holidays on Karpathos 2017

Fly & Drive Offer

In the heart of winter, let’s plan your Active Spring Holidays!

A 7-days hiking and cultural trip on the island of Karpathos.

KARPATHOS, the second largest island of the Dodecanese, is located on the edge of Greece in the southeastern Aegean Sea, and is one of the most sparsely populated areas of the country. According the Ancient Greek Mythology, it was the homeland of the Titan Iapetus, birthplace of the sea spirit Proteus; goddess Athena was raised there and Prometheus, the great philanthropist, had spent part of his life on that island.
Karpathos is known for its healthy climate, its pristine landscapes and the maintenance of old customs and traditions, especially in the north of the island. Old connection paths lead through lonely landscapes and sparse forests, over barren mountain ranges and small fertile plains, past picturesque villages, peaceful bays and solitary chapels, inviting one to extended hikes.
You will have the opportunity to participate in the most important Easter celebrations. EASTER is probably the most important feast for the Greek Orthodox Church, and it is celebrated in a very traditional way in the north of Karpathos. On Good Friday evening, the flower-bedecked tomb of Christ is carried on a procession. The Resurrection of Christ is celebrated particularly lively at midnight from Holy Saturday to Sunday. On Sunday, a festive atmosphere everywhere.
